How can I get these out?

I can't seem to be able to get anything behind to prise it out.

Which one is it? There’s a few safety devices, maybe a picture will help.

A fine beer may be judged with only one sip, but it's better to be thoroughly sure.

If it’s the three pronged one, put a 5p in the top of the spear then engage a coupler as if you would to serve beer then you should be able to get behind the clip legs and prise them out.

I am talking about the large round Spring Clip/Circlip above the spear, I need to remove this in order to unscrew the spear and then use the 5p, correct?

The Spring clip is being "awkward"

I think you user the 5p first. Put a 5p on, put a couplet on and then unscrew the spear and it should come out.
