Hi, I have read it said that liquid yeast is of no use on malt extract brews and that at least 25% of the recipe must be grain, firstly does anyone on this site agree with this, and secondly, if so, is the 25% bill, a pre mash one? Cheers.

I’ve never done a direct comparison of different yeasts with an extract brew, but I can’t see why all yeasts would give the same result.

I’m calling bullshit on this.

2016: 330L brewed (72 gallons, over 8 firkins)
2017: 105L brewed (need to update this figure)
Drinking: Landlord clone
Conditioning: ciders from 2016, hedgerow barrolo, 1914 Courage RIS (10%).

Never heard that before. I would have thought yeast would just want to munch through wort and would not be able to distinguish between the two.
