Apologies if I'm being thick here but how to you dry the inside of the pipework?

After sparging the pipes are hot with clean sparge water so all I do is dismantle straight away then drain any residue and shake pipes to remove any bits and the rest evaporates..
No need to steralise because it's before the boil and ferment stage so a good clean will do.

Ah ok, so with a permanent setup that wouldn't be an option and i'll need to build in a way to breakdown the pipework for drying. I won't be brewing more than twice a month so can't just leave the rinsing water sitting in there!

As long as you build in a few compression joints you can disconnect from wherever you need to...

Hi BB

I remember this thread very well ( and all the advice you gave me regarding the bottom-draining fitting in the thermopot )

I was building my 'simple' 3 pot system at the time and your thread really inspired me to carry on when I was struggling with certain bits.

Only just found TBF and signed-up. Glad to know all that copper is still circulating the good stuff !

Cheers !

Hi Andy.
Great to see you over here where all the real brewing takes place......
Did you manage to get your 3 vessel brewery up and running?? A few pics would be nice to see. :thumb:

Yes BB

Built my pots. Not a permanent set up like yours as I need to be able to pack it away due to space in my flat. But..... works well enough and makes beer !

Still got the original pics but can't post images yet as I'm still a 'new user'.

Cheers

The HERMS coil is 10mm bendable copper pipe.
You'll need to bend it around something, some people use a co2 gas cylinder or a small fire extinguisher. :thumb:

Wow! Very impressive. I’ve got a garage and I’m already cluttered with stuff I can’t throw because ‘it might come in’; so all respect for your fitting your set up in an 8x6 shed.

I’m not far from Cannon Hall and have a pit in the garage if you need some space for storing filled bottles. Can’t guarantee the mice won’t drink any though.....
