Yeast Starter from Slant

Postby Kloorob » Mon Dec 19, 2016 20:23

I would be grateful for some reassurance for producing a Yeast Starter to pitch into a 25 Lt (circa 1.045) IPA batch from a Brewlab Yeast Slant?

I plan to use a sterile loop so I can keep some yeast for again, and though, Brewlab website suggest a 300ml starter will do, but I have read elsewhere that you need to start small (say 30 to 40ml) then 1Lt before going for a final starter of say 2 Lt.

Therefore, is the later approach correct, as I need to give myself sufficient time to prepare the yeast in advance of a brew day next week during the Christmas break.

Thanks for your help.

If you're not using the whole slant, then this thread is a good place to start
