Thermopot mash tun false bottom

I have a 33L thermopot inbound from the well known German ebay provider and plan to convert it to a bottom drain MT. I therefore need a false bottom and am wondering what's best...

1. a 12" domed FB at £22 or,

2. a custom fit FB at twice the price?

I plan on buying from Mr Lard whom I have dealt with in the past and does provide VfM.

What do you reckon?

p s. I know #2 is better but is it worth the extra?

Thanks to eclipse9101's recent How To and Vossy's old one, I now have a mash tun;



with a centre drain;



Simples.

The Ikea fits perfectly in the 33ltr thermopot (with a ring of split ). I stuff a small metal prop in the hole to keep the centre of the splash guard off the base of the mash tun.

Very nice, these thermopots really are the dogs danglies for mash tuns.

I used Mr Lards FB on a 60l which is great but increased the height of the floor for herms

I eventually followed vacant's suggestion with a bit of a mod similar to above;





All that's required now is a brew day...

Great work! I may have suggested it, but not my idea. I collected a very cheap thermopot with a couple of Ikea splatter guards from Mr Lard back in 2012 after he had finished using/experimenting with it - I just had to fit a ball valve and block the hole for RIMS near the top to give it more capacity.
