Boiler tap open full gave gave me 22.3c
Boiler tap 3/4 open gave me 20.7c

I splashed out and bought a heat exchanger. Quite a big one ..... I don't know it's rating but 30 plates and 32cmm long it should do the job My first test gave my fantastic results.
And my local boiler spares shop sold me one at ebay Chinese prices!

I used to run my chiller stood on its end with hot wort going in the bottom and cold out the top, the when it was finished I would flip it the other way up to drain the rest out.

we recirculate the wort back into the boiler till it hits pitching temp

Mine is about 1/4 of that size and still cools to just above mains temp.
