My latest brew, a punk inspired brew, is my favorite to date. It's flippin gorgeous. The problem is that is feels stronger than it is.
I hit all my numbers with an OG of 1.051 and a FG of 1.010 which, according to my brewing software should be 5.4%.
However when I drink even a small glass (330ml bottle) my head spins. I've made similar strength beers before that haven't affected me like this. Any suggestions?

....Sounds like there is something wrong with that brew..... Better send some out for me to test!

Do you feel markedly more drunk after 3 pints of that than you do if you drink 3 pints of punk? You have to start off comparing similar things.

I think I may need to double check my refractometer. For my next brew I'll use my hydrometer too and make sure both are reading the same.
In hindsight, because the refractometer read exactly what was predicted I assumed it was right but now I'm wondering...

I get hop head quite often! Normally just the first one then it fades!

It was a very hoppy pale ale. Galaxy, mosaic., ahtanum & chinook almost all late hopping (200g in 21 litres). 44 IBU & 5.4%. Mostly MO with a little Vienna and aromatic malt.
