Poor head retention in dubbel

Postby walders123 » Sun Jun 14, 2015 12:48

Cracked open my Belgian dubbel last night. Been conditioning for two weeks. Flavour is clean, slightly spicy, a little low on malt flavour for this style l think but not disappointed with this.

However, not bad head on the pour, which disappears to nothing in a v. short space of time. Any thought as to what might have cause d this.? It's a 7.5% abv

It'll improve in time! It can also be down to oils, rinse your glassware too, but almost definitely time, especially at that abv.

As Rob says time is what it needs, that will improve the head retention and definitely the flavour. I think I would tuck them away somewhere cool and dark and try another bottle in about 6 months time.
