First Lager - Munich Helles

Postby crispylettuce » Tue May 23, 2017 22:24

I'm looking to do my first lager, a Munich Helles style. I have borrowed ideas from various places, and there seems to be a definite style.

Any suggestions/Comments?

Type: All Grain
Batch Size: 15.00 l
Boil Time: 60 min

Est Original Gravity: 1.052 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.016 SG
Estimated Alcohol by Vol: 4.7 %
Bitterness: 17.0 IBUs
Est Color: 8.2 EBC

Ingredients
2.587 kg Pilsner (Weyermann) (3.3 EBC) Grain
0.582 kg Munich I (Weyermann) (14.0 EBC) Grain
0.202 kg Cara-Pils/Dextrine (3.9 EBC) Grain
0.194 kg Vienna Malt (10.0 EBC) Grain
10.7 g Hallertau [6.60 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop
10.7 g Hallertau [6.60 %] - Boil 20.0 min Hop
22.1 g Saaz [3.80 %] - Boil 0.0 min Hop

Saflager W34/70 Yeast

As this is my first lager I'm planning on keeping things simple to make life as easy as possible!

I'm considering using Brulosphys quick lager method (http://brulosophy.com/methods/lager-method/). I know this isn't a 'true' lagering process, but I'm looking for ease an simplicity (eg not switching to a secondary). If this works the ability to have a quick turn around will be very handy as space is tight!
