Hi all,
does anyone have a recipe for the above?
I read somewhere that it is in Graham Wheeler's book "Brew your own British real Ale".
I have that book and also the one on brewing European ales but alas, no recipe for a Banks Bitter
Maybe the edition I have is too new or too old
If anyone can help I will really appreciate it

Take normal bitter, add water...

Fortunately GW's recipes are, on the whole, from a time before these beers got accountantised.

Pale Malt 3,840g
Black Malt 39g

Fuggles 57g @ 90 minutes.
Goldings 19g @ 10 minutes.

1038° and 3.8%

I actually don't mind it TBH. It's always available for a quid a bottle and I'd rather those on a hot summer day than some nasty industrial lager...

I just can't help thinking that it was probably a much better beer back in the mists of time.

So Graham gave you permission to publish his material?

Cracking beer, many a good night had on these. But then again i am from the midlands!

I contacted Graham on behalf of the other place several years ago. He said he had no problem with people posting his recipes providing it wasn't for glory or gain so I think providing he receives the credit he deserves there is no problem.

As Calum mentioned was always available at Aldi for a pound a bottle, down to 89p today.
