Good Fuggles based recipe for green hops wanted.

Postby RidleyRumpus » Thu Sep 10, 2015 19:43

I am going to be harvesting some fuggles this weekend, more than enough for a 25+ litre brew and I am looking for inspiration wrt a recipe to use. I have thought about a Pendle Witches clone. Any other ideas?

I brewed the Pendle Witches. Looking good so far but still fermenting. I used Thwaites yeast and it blew the lid off.

The fist post is somewhat confusing im assuming its fuggles hops that's being harvested. Those hops will suit most bitters and if you add EKG could make a mild. There are plenty of recipes in the wheeler books that use fuggles too

Sorry I meant Fuggles, damn predictive text on the tablet.

Kyle have you got a clone recipe for the Witchfinder, I presume the Ridleys? If so it was always a fav of mine.

Pale malt to 1.040 - 35 IBUs from dried bittering hops - english yeast - loads of green fuggles at 10 mins and flameout. why confuse matters? ;)

Bang on there Rob... I
In my opinion and yours by the looks of it, green hops are screaming to be showcased.
Personally I would add a little Crystal 150 to your recipe to bring the colour up to a nice gold and give it a little more body.
Split the wet hops 1/5 th at 5 mins to go then 4/5ths a little after flameout and steep for 30 - 40 minutes until cast.
