Yeah, Willamette are lovely. I've used them a few times. I read somewhere that they're East Kent Goldings but the US climate gives them a very different result.

Yeah, something along those lines. They're a very nice hop and certainly different to goldings.

I tried a summer ale recently while on a trip to Shanghai (boxing cat brewery) and it was very interesting. Fruity, a little spicy and just very nice. Just interested what makes something a "summer ale"?

Its not a style per say, just usually thin bodied pale session beer with citrus/grassy hops.

I can't upload one but I'll try for you later, the old pic died. It was a very nice easy drinking english ale. I'd brew it again :)

Brewed this back in March. My brew house efficiency wasn't very good, I think mainly because I was using the last of a 25kg bag of pale malt, so it was a bit dusty.

So at 3.5%, it is definitely a 'session ale', but I have to say it is a lovely light fresh beer and perfect for a hot summers day, day time drinking. At first I thought it was a little thin and maybe a bit bland, but now it's been in the bottle for about 10 weeks, I'm really enjoying it and it is a very tasty pint.

I used 95% pale malt and 5% wheat malt and the hops as per your recipe. :thumb:

Will certainly make this one again.
