Sponsors on THBF

Postby LeithR » Mon Apr 07, 2014 16:23

Has anyone told the old sponsors that we have done pretty much a mass migration so we can if nothing else bring their good will along with us, not sure what else we can do in this circumstance?. I'm assuming of course that they will not be sponsoring THBF as its now been sold on?

That one is being discussed by the mods as we speak. :thumb: We want to keep them onboard even though they won't be our sponsors.

I hope we do not go down the route that THBF did with sponsorship, not being allowed people selling things that the sponsors didnt, no group buys of malt, etc incase we upset a sponsor

We will not have sponsors!

We will have an area where 'Preferred Suppliers' will be able to post to tell us about new things for sale, promotions, and discounts. . . .And we can post up if we find better deals!!

There is no plan to go down the sponsorship route.

We are looking at having a preferred supplier section on the forum so our preferred vendors can peddle their wares as they see fit, in a moderated fashion.

It will not be sponsorship though so I think group buys etc.. will still be allowed, my experience of Group buys on forums where they are allowed is that they don't happen that often anyway.

Will people still be able to advertise items that one of the suppliers sells?

Say people want to buy 5kg of hops and split it and sell to everyone else at cost, like what happened on the hop, will this be allowed?

I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be competition on the forum.

If someone notices a deal for 5kg of hops and wants to do a group buy then I don't see an issue with that.

The preferred suppliers are just that, suppliers who we know and trust and have supported various fora and events in the past. As they are not sponsors there will be no contractual obligations with them preventing healthy competition.
