overfilled my Canadian blonde to 23.5l

Postby GaryG » Sun Apr 06, 2014 15:12

I overfilled my Canadian blonde to 23.5l. as instructed on old forum I bought spray malt light 500g. Do I just dissolve it in boiling water (just enough to dissolve) wait till it cools then stir in gently to the wart.

Gary.

PS how will this alter the taste.

What will happen if I add say 2/3 to the blonde and 1/3 to the cerveza (both Coopers kits).

Disaster. I put most in my canadian blonde and a little in my cerveza. The cerveza overflowed, it was like a volcano erupting. Dont know how much I lost of if I have ruined my brew. :| :| :| I was so looking forward to the cerveza in the summer. You live and learn.

At least my son enjoyed it, a good lesson in science for him lol

Not sure I quite understand what happened. Had the Cerveza already started fermenting?

Yes, I put it on yesterday at about 5.30pm. Should I not have added it during fermentation.

Sorry to hear that. :(

Just done the Canadian Blonde myself for the first time, bottled a week ago and very tempted to try one but must resist the temptation ;)

Just found some bottles of coopers lager I brewed last September. Its so lovely now. Only got about 5 300ml bottles left and they will be done in the 2nd half od the football :D Just goes to show, patients is a virtue (or bad memory).

I recently added some pectic enzyme to a cider which was already fermenting (I'd forgotten to add it at the start). As soon as I added it there was a huge amount of foaming. I assume it had knocked a load of CO2 out of the fermenting cider which caused the mess. Yours is probably the same. Unless there is a better explanation for it. Anyway, adding things slowly a small bit at a time will be my future tactic.

I know what you mean. Only started homebrew just before christmas and found it hard to leave my brews long before having a sample or three. The coopers lager i made tasted great after a couple of months but like you only had a few left.
I now try to leave my brews for at least 2 months before trying them.
