Any good pilsner kits?

Postby blinky » Mon Jun 26, 2017 19:47

Although I normally do all grain I'm off to Florida in a couple of weeks and want to put a lager on before I go and leave it in the brew fridge for the 2 weeks - I wont have time to do an all grain before I leave so wanted a good Pilsner kit to save time. I will probably replace the kit yeast with true Lager (dry) yeast but other than that and brewing to 21 rather than 23L want to just make it as per the kit. So.... whats the best Pilsner kit you good folks have brewed?

I'd probably sidestep a kit and buy extra-light DME, 2-3 packets of Saf-23 lager yeast plus some Saaz pellets for bittering and aroma. Also bottled water (Tesco Ashbeck), unless you already treat your water to soften it.

You'd still need to boil, but could shorten it to 30 mins without any problems. You'd just add extra hops as utilisation would be down.

Nah, no time for that, got to be a kit with work, then getting ready for holidays (shopping for summer clothes for the kids/getting travel money together etc).
