Bottling & Kegging this weekend

Postby tim_n » Mon May 22, 2017 14:19

In an attempt to keep the numbers up for THBF I bottled up a few beers & kegged a couple that have been sitting a little too long in the fermentation fridge.

I had four well conditioned beers in the kegs which I'd decided to enter which needed bottling. I bought a bottling wand from China, stainless steel variety which cost about £20. Since the piping had now arrived for it (and appropriate JG fittings) I got it linked up and spurting beer. First four attempts failed due to not turning on the gas (well, they bottled, but not with proper pressure)

Two of the kegs were almost empty thanks to a recent party but just enough to bottle for the competition! This meant I was able to add a couple of entries.

Finally I kegged and bottled the final two - wheatbeer and an IPA. The IPA used a stainless steel hop container, sterilised and whole hops used for extra flavour in the secondary.

Looking forward to it now!
