Punk Rock Kegerator Build - "Sheena"

Postby robwalker » Sat Jan 28, 2017 16:48

I've been gradually collecting bits and as of today my fridge is totally functional so thought I'd post.

2X chrome taps, 2 corny kegs with gas and regulator. With a few M of line it pours well at around 2psi so I'm happy.

Just gotta finish the "decal" and make some blackboard signs for the changing beers, plus one of the black tap faces was damaged in transit so there's another coming. I might install a couple of valves on the line that I can turn on and off too seeing as my dogs are locked up near the taps when I'm out. Currently serving a Sticklebrackt IPA 4.8% and a Vienna ale 5.2% conditioning in the fridge at work.

Cheers!

Lookin good..

Might be worth considering getting a few meters of 3/16" microline plumbed in between kegs and taps, the thin line is more manageable letting you coil it neatly (well ish hehe ) and due to its restrictive qualities will allow you to maintain the kegs at a higher pressure and retain condition as you do run the risk of loosing condition from the beer if maintained at a nominal serving pressure and not drunk within a few weeks.

You also may find a squeezy bottle handy to rinse out your tap spouts between sessions, any residue could attract fungus gnats or wine flys..

Hi Rob,

Being as we're in the same area, can you let me know where you get your CO2 from?

Cheers,

Ian

Ian, I'm struggling myself now as I reckon barber Bros might have gone under - can't get in touch with them for love nor money. There's a guy in kings heath now although he's quiet too.

Cheers Rob. Not had chance to get mine up and running yet so am deciding what to do. I can get small S30 cylinders fairly easily from Deejays but they'll obviously be more expensive and require the use of lots of adaptors etc. to get them to fit a regulator.

You just need one fitting I think, s30 disconnect, stupidly expensive however. You could prime the keg, use s30 to seal the lid and apparently you get a good half the keg out before needing to gas, so should last a while. You can see why people resort to fire extinguishers...

I managed to get in touch with these guys but they no longer have a site in Birmingham and are based in Rugby. I'm struggling to find anything will probably have to use the expensive S30 or soda stream cylinders at this rate.

Word has it that barber Bros are still going but you just need to turn up and hope for the best.

I'm going to theses guys on Saturday as they say they are having a spike in FG CO2 for the public due to brewing, hydrophonics and fish keeping - Neon Autos in Mere Green.
