Lidl mini kegs

Postby kohoutec » Wed Apr 13, 2016 20:13

Just picked up a keg of Weiss from Lidl. Does anyone know which bungs I need to buy to reuse. I'm guessing it's the easy keg type? Instructions on the side look like this. Not sure about the tapping cock ;-)

treat your tapping cock kindly.. and you can probably reuse the came with bung too just keep the top half of the centre bit and when empty fish out the bottom bit.

removing the collar that the central plug sits in is best done with string or dental floss wrapped around the top lip twisted on itself before wrapping round a screwdriver or any other 'handle' to pull out the bung with.. avoid tools as the keg has a thin film coating to hamper rust.

the taps are a pits imho and the kegs work best chilled with a party tap or minikeg machine. but look after it they are difficult to remove cleanly and replacements need finding. can direct perhaps??

I tried to gently remove the bung from the Lidl mini kegs I picked up last year, but ended up crushing thme to buggery. I bought some of these...

I haven't tried to dispense with them yet as the beer is still conditioning, but they seem to seal well. There's a similar bung with a pressure valve as well.

I "recycled" a mini keg of Lidl oktoberfest, it was quite nice. Don't think I could manage 5 litres of wheat beer

Was quite impressed with them. Bought three. Had two on camp, third one at a BBQ. All drunk. 1st keg lasted 5 days before the last pint turned.
