My first ever AG brew - AG #1 - Awesome ale 7/7/12

I've finally done it, first AG brew day! It was ace fun, started at 11.30am this morning not long finished now so took me about 5 hours from start to finish...I was impressed with my setup however there were a few minor hitches which I will sort out for next time.

1 -My boiler had a leaky tap...it never leaked when I tested it but as soon as I filled it the tap started to leak...only very slowly, a drip every 30 seconds or so...I just put a measuring jug under it to catch the drips. Think I just need to tighten the compression fitting - easy fix hopefully

2 -My mash tun needs more holes! It took a really long time to sparge, I tried fly sparging today but it took a bloody age. The flow coming from the mash tun was very slow indeed...got there in the end and with only about 500ml of wastage so not too shabby...

3 -My hop strainer needs more holes too that took ages to drain from the boiler as well...

Apart from those easily fixable problems all in all I've had a very successful day! Knackered now, think I need a big sit down and perhaps a homebrew (or two)...I'm telling myself I'm only drinking them in order to free up the bottles
