There are a couple of these around but I've found the Yeastcal one to be the best one.

It is, not tried the other calculators on there. Please let us know if the others are any good.

I was reading a thread on another place that says I should pitch at 45'C

Got a feeling that is someone trying to sabotage the other place.

Surely not Shirley!

He he.

28'C is about the highest you ever want to pitch at 20-25'C is about the norm. Good study about it somewhere which says you should also make a starter and pitch at same temp as your fermentables to avoid temperature shock affecting viability.

A good link, thanks. I wish there was one of these calculators that defaulted to Litres, rather than US Gallons, though. I know you can change it every time you go on...

As regards temperature, the White/Zainashaff advice is to pitch [with starter and wort both] a degree C or two lower than your target temperature, and then let it rise.
