Hello guys,

As I missed out on the wild hops of last year and would love to harvest some wild hops this year, does anyone know of Essex wild hop sites?

Cheers

Not me I'm afraid but if anyone knows of any Norfolk or North Suffolk ones please add them here too.
Sorry Kyle don't want to hijack your thread, perhaps it could be a sticky somewhere for all regions?

I would have been happy to share my Hop site .... though some bugger has hacked them down. They may recover though. Tis in London However, and I think they may be East Kent or Fuggles.

Do they have to be wild ...I should have some for you come harvest time, I got 10 plants growing , 6 I know what they and the other 4 could be anything of these , sazz, northdown, challenger, cascade or golden tassels.

I know you are just down the road from me, I was told that there is some wild hops growing about 10 mins walk from where I live, but I haven't been down there to check yet.

Keep meaning to go there but circumstances so far mean I've not had a chance.

They are apparently in Stanway, Colchester. I can let you know the location if you want, but as I said I'm not sure if there is anything there so any journeys are at your own risk!

There's loads growing along the river near me, all along the footpath from the mill to the train station. I tried them a couple of years ago, the flavour was OK, a bit cider like.
