Substitute for Target.

The supporting act

Substitute for Target.

Postby snail59 » Sat Mar 14, 2015 20:58

Got a long weekend in a couple of weeks so plan on another brew day. Will be doing the GW Guinness but I have no Target. So rather than buy more hops I want to use some of what I have in stock.

I have. Topaz, Progress, Aurora, Herkules, Willamette and E.K.G

So what would be a good replacement.

Thanks Mick.

I only smile as I have no idea what is going on.

That seems to be a domain holder mark no actual website.

You really need a bittering hop which you don't seem to have. I take it you will be using it at 90 minutes. If so willamette could be used and so could ekg. Personally I would use ekg.

it will obviously depend on the aa's of what you have and how much you have of each.

Yes GA I will be using for the full 90. Got plenty as there all unopened 100g sealed vac pac's and will only be doing a 10ltr brew. Just had a look in the freeze and I have Citra, Saphir, Bouclier & Cascade already open?? Might just try using Cascade??.

I only smile as I have no idea what is going on.

I'd use the Progress as it's probably the highest AA of all the English hops you have. In fact, I think I made a stout using them.

I'd use the Herkules out of those for Guinness! Good bittering hop for a stout. Admiral would sub pretty well for Target.
