rose hip wine?

rose hip wine?

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has a recipie for this? I just picked 2kg of rose hips with my son this afternoon. They have been mashed and are in a big pot with some water and a campden table.

One from a book -

1.8kg rosehips
250g sultanas
1kg sugar
3tsp citric acid
1/2tsp tannin
1tsp pectic enzyme

Freeze, Thaw, crush and pour boiling water over the rosehips. Ferment on pulp for 5 days, strain out, you know the rest I assume!

My wife is worrying that i have the wrong type of rose hips. From my quick research I don't think there is an inedible form, it just might not taste as good as other species if rose. They looked like this...http://www.mooseyscountrygarden.com/wat ... -hips.html

I have just added everything to the bucket. Thought I had some poetic enzyme, but it looks like I haven't so I couldn't put any in! I also added a banana and some yeast nutrient.

I will let you know how it goes.

sounds great. not sure about the poetic enzyme though, I prefer to keep literature and brewing seperate...

Hahaha! Gotta love autocorrect for that kinda stuff!
Nearly as good I almost forgot to put the sugar in! 500 g have gone in. Will put the rest in when I move it to the DJ.
