The Original Cheeky Vimto

For a 25 ltr Batch

20ltr Apple juice
3 ltr of Vimto cordial, Bring to boil in separate pan and simmer for 15 mins to drive off additives and preservatives
Sugar to make up OG to 1.070, if you want it that high Check your OG once all mixed up, if yours is too low remove some juice and heat up to dissolve desired sugar.

If your looking at scaling down I used 150ml of vimto per litre of apple juice

The Yeast was just S-04 varoius people tried cider yeasts, champagne yeasts and assorted, I suggest going with what you like in a cider

It started out at 1.070 OG
I finished it at 1.020 FG may drop a few more points before the yeast stops working.
Comes out at 6.4%
It tastes bloody marvelous

oh and drinking should be week after next!
I also reckon this could do with 4 ltr of vimto per 25 ltr as it's a little on the weak side but still good!

To stop it, once it had reached the FG I wanted I placed the Fv in a cold enviroment Ie my spare fridge, added 4 campden tablets and 1/2 teaspoon per gallon of Potassium sorbate. This should be printed on your tub's.
After 2 days I racked this into another Fv Leaving the yeast behind. Allowed any more yeast to fall out of suspension, then racked into my keg and force carbonated, as it wont carbonate on it's own.

Barnsley Brewer You did several versions of this I read, in the 38 pages of post.
Fancy adding your final version to this?

It could be, I was very green at brewing when this was started, and wanted to keg rather than bottled.
Several people did let them ferment out and it still held it's sweetness BB was one I think?
It started a monster that I never knew existed. Summers coming so I think I should get one on and tweak it to make it bottled, BB used Youngs cider yeast, so may try that as a starter.

I'll have to try this, it sounds a lot cheaper than buying port and Blue WKD, It's SWMBO's drink of choice on the rare occasions we venture out to Wetherspoons

This is how I did my fizzy Vimto

to make 5 ltrs

1 ltr Vimto squash
400g sugar
1 tsp nutrient
1 tsp yeast

Day 1
Put yeast, nutrient and 4 tsp sugar in a bowl of warm water and cover.
Simmer juice in a pan for 10 mins then add sugar and stir until dissolved.
Top up pan with some cold water and then pour into DJ
Add yeast/nutrient mix to DJ
Top up DJ to 4.5 ltrs

Day 5
top up DJ to 5 ltrs

Day 15
fermented - hydro read 996
Rack off
Batch prime with 48g sugar dissolved in half pint of water
Bottled and left to carb up.

Enjoy

Would fermenting a cider like I do... 20l of it. S04 down to 1.016. Then stabilise and just add the cordial when kegging in the corny?
