Kenridge Showcase Italian Amarone

Many thanks. There are 3 of us talking about starting this kit this weekend so this will be a useful place to share our thoughts on it.

Will check in once it's brewing.

Stared mine today 24.05.14, contents are BIG bag of grape juice, 2 x 15g bentonite, 2 x 20g Hungarian Oak, Red star premier cuvee yeast, 2 x kieselsol, 2 x chitosan, pot sorbate, pot met, box has a nice knock out to help pouring. So followed instructions, topped up with water added bentonite & oak, yeast packet said to hydrate in 50ml water at 38-41°c so now sat at 20°c. started at 22.4 Brix (1.092) will update

Just tested the gravity on this.
It's down to 0996 after 14 days so still about 6 points to get to the target gravity.
I don't pay much attention to the instructions! They would have you racking it about 4 times when there's no need.
I'll let this finish in the primary then rack to secondary and start the degassing and clearing. I didn't take a sample just put the hydrometer in the fv (don't like to waste any) so i didn't get a taste but will have a taste next week when transferring.

After a week mine is down to 7.2 brix so about 0.994

It's bottled and awaiting a bit of age. First taste is good. Nice body.

Haven't got round to bottling mine yet!
Hopefully get it done on Thursday night.

I'll be doing my best to get it on at the weekend... I'm planning to leave the whole stash alone for a couple of years so I'd better get a move on!

I finally got this on last night, loving the smell of the oak sachet! this is going to be a good one. SG was 1.090 so should give a nice 13% if brewed to .990

Mine finished at 0.994

That would be perfectly respectable! still blooping once every 30 seconds or so after nearly a week.

Has anyone had another taste yet? I was going to buy a bottle of this style wine at the weekend before I splashed out £75 on a kit but found it costs £17-18 in the supermarket! Maybe I should just make a kit of a wine I have tried before...

I haven't read anything except rave reviews for this kit. Do a google search and forums all over the world will confirm this.
I also think it was the top kit in a US winemaking list which was pretty impressive given the competition even if the article is a while back.

I would love to be a judge for that competition! Not sure I could do the "spit" bit though so would be trollied after a few hours... If a kit can produce a wine worth £18 for £2.50 odd no wonder it is popular though.

I brought a few of these to a family gathering on Sunday and everyone loved it.
It's the best wine I've made!
Would have to check my notes but it's been in the bottle roughly 2 months and i can only see this getting better and better.

I am going to order one of these in the very near future

I got one of these in the wine swap (need to post the review!) It was delicious!!

Just short of 12 months in the bottle, quite dry on the palate, good mouthfeel, smooth. glad I got another batch bottled. can see this getting a lot better with more age. Well worth the £73 price tag.

I've got another one of these on the go. It's been in the bottles for a month now,going to try and resist opening one until Christmas.

Been very interested in this kit for a while. Just bought aldis amarone for 12quid.
Never had this type of wine before but what an absolute belter of a bottle. Well worth the money.
Really like this style, If this kit could get anywhere near this elcheapo amarone I'd be very happy.
Next purchase mw thinks.

I think I recommended the Aldi one to someone on here last year at Christmas. They were looking to spend a bit more than your usual supermarket wine. The Kendridge Showcase one is well worth the money. Thoroughly recommend it.

Have been contemplating this one for a while now, but at £75.....thats a lot of Elderberry wine.

It's such a powerful wine, really enjoyed this bottle tonight.

If the Kenridge is on par with this aldi special I'd be very happy indeed.

How long would you bulk this one for, as won't be in a hurry to drink it.
(Pretty much just chuck any kit instructions and listen to wise around these parts)
Has anyone attempted any kit modding to up the abv to say 15% or is it good enough to brew as is?

I would say it's on a par with the Aldi one . If you ever go to a nice Italian restaurant and you're willing to fork out for an expensive bottle then I would go for Amarone. As far as bulk ageing I bottle when it's ready and age in the bottles as i don't have a glass carboy. It's nice when it's young but if you can hang on to a few bottles for a year then it's really does improve. I usually try and put a kit on every three months and put 10 bottles aside for long term ageing.

Have a fair amount of fruit wine on at the minute as just getting stock levels up. Will purchase this kit and get it on before the years up.
Usually stash a few bottles of every brew as its great to find them later on and see how they've aged.
Should be a good 2017 at this rate.

Slightly off topic but I have seen a few other amarone kits going for £110 are these worth considering at all? Would there be a huge leap in quality? Thanks.

Just been in touch with creativity wines regarding the out of stock Kenridge kit. They have stated that the kit had been replaced by the Atmosphere Amarone kit?
Does anyone know if this is the same kit. Says an RRP of 79.95 but they are selling for 74.95.
