Hi i am new to making wines and brought a kit. The instruction said to top up water to 4.5 litres after 3 days i could see i needed to leave room so did ..but i have wine going into the airlock.what should i do?? Please

Sounds like a lively fermentation it will settle down in a few days in the mean time you could sit the demi in a bucket or on a tray so you dont get a mess and rinse the airlock out

You could try and fit a blow off tube, I stick the syphon tube into the airlock bung and have the other end sat in a bottle of starsan.. but that was when I had a really bad ferment.

This has probably happened to the majority of us at some time, if you make another ignore the instructions and top up on day 4 or 5.

One of mine did that the other week, just rinse out the airlock, I sore mine in the bath behind the shower curtain just in case this happens now. It looked like a scene from psyco as it was a red wine that had exploded all over the bath
