I filter most of my white and paler pink wines, but that is purely a matter of personal preference. It should be regarded as an optional extra finishing touch and never as a necessity. Don't even think about it unless you are making a lot of wine on a regular basis.

Any time scales on any kit instructions are just a guideline. They can often be optimistic, but ambient temperatures at the moment would help to achieve those targets.

Thanks for the reply moley I will give it a go this week ( clear the decks ready for my daft questions ) what about corks I have got some of the plastic ones or is cork better I also have a brew fridge so temp control shouldn't be a problem.

Get some Novatwist caps. £14.50 for 100 and you can re use them over and over. And screw top bottles are usually free, but occasionally you have to pay £3.99 but they come with free wine. See HERE

finished this one now, must say this one is very drinkable for a first attempt, dropped a few hints and hey presto i got a wine filter from my daughter ( feel a bit guilty really but she was chuffed with the 6 bottles i gave her ) anyway this might just tempt me to stray more into the wine making for the future
