HLT

Hi all
not been brewing for a while and i left water in the bottom of my HLT :nono: now after somebody commented about it im worried about stale water taste in my finished product (don't want to be throwing away 9 gallons of ruined ale)
i happen to have a calomax catering water boiler in my stock of stuff

is this any good to use as a HLT?
i can already think of downsides to it as i draw water it will auto fill cooling the water down (although auto fill has advantages)
and the other thing is on the old HLT i had rough measurements on the side so i could see how much water i transfered into the mash tun
(transfered by pump) cant see how to do this with the Calomax

any suggestions or comments welcome

What about a boil in your htl with citric acid or a cleaner. This should clean it up and prevent any issues.

i did think about that but the thought of throwing away 9 gallons of ale turned me off the idea

um, tip the stale water out and use fresh? i must be missing something 'cause i certainly couldn't afford to be replacing my kit everytime i left water in it!
if it's plastic then bleach works great
