Conical fermenter for ~£20 or even less.

Just wondering if anyone had managed to achieve a useful conical doing what I'm showing here:

I could add a smaller outlet version on the sloping part near the lid, then flip the thing over, and install some kind of lid / vent on the base / new top....

Just thinking, probably won't come to much!

Interesting idea.
Have you leak tested it yet?

It depends what you want it to do, really. The cone would be 'far' too shallow to dump much yeast, but it would aid rinsing and reduced dead-space. Could be a bit more complicated to disinfect though, the lid and O-ring would probably have to be removed and done separately to ensure there are no crevices.

Those lids are pretty strong, but you'd have to be very confident it wouldn't leak or even pop off.

It might work, with a fair bit of effort. I can't see what the advantage would be though, versus the extra effort in cleaning.

2016: 330L brewed (72 gallons, over 8 firkins)
2017: 105L brewed
Drinking: store-bought beer as my bar is dry
Conditioning: choc-coffee oatmeal wheat stout, various ciders, cherry 'brett' brown ale, imperial Pilsner.
Fermenting: Bock (6.5%), IPA (5.5%), Pale Ale (4.5)
