Hi guys. I have a 6 litre thermo pot from Bergland that I'm planning on converting to a little herms pot.

I've seen people use elements that are fitted in the bottom section of these pots bit I'm insure where people get these specific elements from? What size do they have to be? I would ideally like to fit one in the bottom and have the cable feeding through to the outer bottom rim so I can fit a gland to it and wire on a plug to end of the lead.

we use a tesco value kettle element in the base of a 2 litre aparagus pot. For a larger pot i reckon you would need a bigger element so that youll be able to get the quick temp changes for step mashing (if you plan to do any) that is.

about 1m of element length, and a scrubby pad wil fit between the rings for a post boil scrub..

but the quick search employed to find them also picked up this uk auction 2 x elements for a fiver if no one else gazumps it

add some feet to the base of the pot to provide distance between electrical connections and the surface it stands on if the odd spill is a possibility

If it's for a herms no need for scrubbing

This 99p ebay bargin, has been sitting outside the workshop for to many years but is destined to be my BIAT base vessel. Anyone want to bid me on three 240 volt heaters at 5Kw each?
