Will do bob. They're just trying to reach min order quantity for board production. Plus As ArdBir is open source code anyone that knows what their doing (not me sadly ) can adjust the code to personal preferences.

Not been run in anger yet. Just waiting on a new ds12b20 probe from Australia then I'll be up and running.

I'm slowly adding recipes to the library so all I have to do is choose which one I want then it runs the mash and boil with warnings for hop additions etc. It can store upto 10 recipes.

Ok first run with plain water just to check for leaks etc. Only 1 slight dribble on probe fitting. Quick video if it running too. The noisiest of part is the cooling fan on top of the control box.

Well it had its first run out today. Irish red for a 12ltr batch. Seemed to run well except that I have now noticed the probe is reading 10°c low so that may have buggered up my mash. Only have 5° offset allowance on ardbir so ordered a new probe incase it's a dodgy one.

How do you calibrate a ds18b20? There is 5° allowance on the ardbir either way but that's still not enough. Have ordered another probe to compare. I'll do the ice water and boiling kettle test.

Ok so I tried a new probe this morning. Worked a dream in ice water along side my thermopen. Then retried the old one and failed to drop below 20°. Just need to make a new thermowell and hopefully I'm done.

Gave this an outing last night brewing a goose island style ipa. Extractor system seems to work. No steam in the shed at all.

I might have been tempted to use a foil extraction hose because of the heat but those inline extractors are great, I've just replaced one which had given quite a few years service in our bathroom, extracting from 2 vents. I was amazed that the latest unit was about half the price of my original now they are more common place and the "herb growers" use them!
