It's been a little while since my last American ale so it's time to have a another go whilst I decide what to do with my last brew, I will use a 60/40 mix of tap and bottled water and a step mash that worked well last time.
Decided to take a punt on using some pellets this time to see what all the fuss is about:
Black IPA:
Batch: 23 Litres
OG: 1.055
FG: 1.015
ABV: 5.2%
IBU: 45
SRM: 35
Grist:
4.6kg Pale Malt
0.4kg Carafa III Malt
0.3kg Vienna Malt
0.1kg Aromatic Malt
Hop Schedule:
20g FF 7C's @ 90 minutes.
10g FF 7C's @ 15 minutes.
15g FF 7C's @ 10 minutes.
15g FF 7C's @ 8 minutes.
20g FF 7C's @ 5 minutes.
20g FF 7C's @ 3 minutes.
20g FF 7C's @ Aroma: 30 minutes.
80g FF 7C's @ Dry Hop: 14 days.
Yeast:
WLP051 - Californian V Ale Yeast (Avg 72.5% Attenuation).
Mash Profile:
Step 1: 55°C @ 5 minutes.
Step 2: 65°C @ 30 minutes.
Step 3: 67°C @ 60 minutes.
Step 4: 78°C @ 30 minutes.
I haven't run it through my software yet as the laptop battery died but that is pretty much how it will end up. I might use another yeast as well as the California V yeast to see what happens.
Any suggestions?
