Biscuit Malt - example beers?

Biscuit Malt - example beers?

Postby kohoutec » Tue Jul 15, 2014 13:42

Can someone suggest a readily available beer that has noticeable biscuit malt flavours? I'm thinking of trying it in my next brew, but if it's the taste I think it might be I'm not sure I like it!
Irony is I'm struggling to think of a beer that has the taste I'm thinking of, the only one I can come up with at the moment is Bays Gold (a local Devon beer)

Thanks

Cheers Nobby - I've had (and very much like!) Punk but will pick up another on the way home from work tonight just to be sure ;) Funnily enough I was just looking at your Punk recipes again...

If it's the same as amber malt, Butty Bach by Wye Valley is full of it.

I've bought some biscuit malt, I'm not sure why  I'm kinda planning a low ABV beer that's full of hops ....... would it work in that?

Hmmmm OK. Why not. It's in my next beer. I do like to experiment sometimes.

It would probably work but I think you'd be losing some of it's flavour, I'm not sure but I suspect it'll be a subtle one that may get dominated if it's a hop bomb.

I reckon it would go quite well in a standard bitter...now there's good for thought. :hmm:

At least with amber malt, I found the opposite - 250g totally overpowered my simcoe! But maybe that's a one off...
